Construction update - resort
The Phase 1 buildings (Buildings 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7) are all at full height and construction has now commenced on the Phase 2 buildings (Buildings 1, 4 and 8).
External paintwork on Buildings 5 and 7 has been completed and the scaffolding has been removed from both of these buildings. In addition to this, the external windows and doors have been fitted to almost all of the apartments in these buildings, with the final few windows to go in over the coming weeks.
Final preparations for the external paintwork on Building 6 are now underway, with this building to be painted and have its external windows and doors fitted and the scaffolding removed over the coming weeks.
Buildings 2 and 3 will follow once the paintwork on Building 6 has been completed.
In the meantime, work is well underway with the Phase 2 buildings; Building 8 - a new addition to the resort - now stands two storeys talls, with the masonry work of the second story having been completed. Building 4 now stands one storey tall, with work on the first floor now underway. Building 1 has had its foundation poured, but we are holding off on further construction until Building 8 has reached full height.
Construction update - marina
Dredging work on the marina is ongoing, with large parts of the marina now at a depth of 4 metres.
The pier elements have now been ordered and are currently in construction at the Swedish facilities of pier manufacturer SF Marina. We expect to take delivery of the pier elements in May 2026, after which they can be installed in the lagoon.
Delivery of the rotating bridge is running behind schedule due to delays in production at the factory in Italy of manufacturer CIMOLAI. We expect to take delivery of the bridge in December and hope that it will be installed early next year.
January 2025 saw us achieve an exciting milestone; the first of the phase 1 buildings (building 5) has now been painted and the scaffolding has been removed. The windows of this building have already been fitted and we have started tiling the apartments.
Buildings 3 and 7 have reached full height and will also be plastered and painted over the coming weeks.
Buildings 2 and 6 are almost at full height, with work having commenced on the masonry work of the top floors (penthouses).
We have now commenced work on all of the phase 2 buildings, with the foundation of building 1 having been completed and work on the foundations of buildings 4 and 8 now underway.
Construction of the marina has now entered phase 2, with the commencement of the dreding of the lagoon. We expect this work to take 3-6 months.
The phase 1 buildings
Building 2 now stands eight storeys tall (including the ground floor), with the masonry work on the first seven storeys now being complete and preparations being made for the masonry work of the penthouses. Building 2 will be the only building with two penthouses on the top floor.
At nine storeys, Building 3 is nearing completion of the raw construction stage. The masonry work of the penthouse has been completed and the ring beam has been poured, with the roof to be poured in January 2025.
Building 5 has now reached completion of the raw construction stage, with preparations now being made to commence the external paintwork.
Building 6 is only two storeys away from completion, with the masonry work of the first eight storeys having been completed and preparations now being made for the pouring of the floor of the ninth storey.
Building 7 has now reached completion of the raw construction stage, with preparations now being made to commence the external paintwork.
The Phase 2 buildings
We have now received the engineering specifications for the foundations of Building 4 and have commenced work on drilling the piles for the foundations of this building.
We have poured the foundation of Building 1, as well as the columns for the garages and lobby on the ground floor.
Landscaping and infrastructure
We expect work on the infrastructure and landscaping to commence in early 2025, starting at Building 7 and working back towards Building 1.
The Marina
Construction on the marina commenced in August 2023 and the first phase of construction has reached completion, with the breakwater now complete and the marina entrance now being at its intended width of 20 metres (65') and depth of 4.5 metres (14').
The dredging work in the lagoon is expected to commence in Q1 2025.
The rotating bridge for the marina has now been ordered and is in the final stages of engineering. The order for the pier elements for the marina will be placed by the end of the year.
The phase 1 buildings
Building 2 now stands five storeys tall (including the ground floor), with the masonry work on all five storeys now being complete and preparations being made for the pouring of the sixth floor.
At nine storeys, Building 3 is nearing completion of the raw construction stage, with only one more floor (the penthouse) to go.
Building 5 is also only one storey away from completion of the raw construction stage, with the masonry work of the first six storeys having been completed and preparations being made for the pouring of the floor of the seventh storey penthouse.
Building 6 is only three storeys away from completion, with the masonry work of the first six storeys having been completed and preparations now being made for the pouring of the floor of the seventh storey.
Building 7 is only two storeys away from completion of the raw construction stage, with the masonry work of the first five storeys having been completed and the floor of the sixth story having been poured. We are now working on the masonry work of the sixth storey.
As we are nearing completion of the raw stage of construction of the Phase 1 buildings, we are looking forward to the next part of this phase, namely the installation of windows and doors, and the plastering and painting of the exterior of the buildings, which we expect to start as early as September.
The Phase 2 buildings
We have now received the engineering specifications for the foundations of Building 4 and expect to commence work on drilling the piles for the foundations of this building in the coming weeks. We are about to start work on commencing the site for the construction of Building 1.
Landscaping and infrastructure
In March, we engaged an Aruba-based firm specialised in designing infrastructure and landscaping for high-end hotel and resort projects to prepare the landscaping and infrastructure plan for The View. We expect to receive the first draft from them at the end of June and look forward to sharing the first impressions with you in our following update!
The Marina
Construction on the marina commenced in August 2023 and the first phase of construction is now nearing completion, with the breakwater now almost complete and the marina entrance now being at its intended width of 20 metres (65') and depth of 4.5 metres (14').
We recently awarded the contract for the dredging work in the lagoon and expect for this work to commence in Q3 2024. We will also soon be placing an order for the rotating bridge and for the pier elements for the marina. As part of the dredging work, we will be dredging up and carefully removing decades of mineral oil and heavy metal contamination from the bed of the lagoon and installing circulation pipes to improve the water quality in the lagoon and restore life to what is currently an unhealthy, still, lifeless body of water.
Building 2 now stands four storeys tall (including the ground floor), with the masonry work on all four storeys now being complete and preparations being made for the pouring of the next floor.
Building 3 remains the tallest building, now standing seven storeys tall (including the ground floor). The masonry work on all storeys has been completed and preparations are being made for the pouring of the 8th floor.
Building 5 is also four storeys tall. The masonry work on all four storeys is also complete.
Building 6 now stands five storeys tall, with the masonry work on all five storeys being complete.
Building 7 has started to catch up with the other buildings and is four storeys tall. The masonry work on all four storeys is also complete.
All buildings are now more than halfway to completion in terms of the number of storeys and are all on schedule for completion of the remaining storeys by August 2024.
The floor of the second storey of building 3 has been poured, as have the columns and ring beam of the parking garage of building 2. Preparations are being made for the pouring of the ground floor of building 2.
The floors of the first storeys of buildings 5 and 6 have been poured and the masonry work for the walls of the first story of building 5 has also been completed, with preparations begin made for the masonry work for the first story of building 6. completed and work is commencing on the floor of the first storey on both of these buildings.
The foundations of building 7 have now also been poured.
Work has commenced on the marina which is to be developed in the lagoon in front of the View Resort.
The first phase of construction involves excavation at the opening of the lagoon to widen the opening (from 6 metres to 20 metres) and dredging work to deepen the opening (from the current 2.5 metres to approximately 4 metres).
In addition, work has commenced on the construction of the breakwater at the entrance of the marina.
As of March 2023, construction on 5 out of the total 7 buildings is well underway.
The underground parking garage under building 2 is complete, as is the masonry work on the ground floor. The floor of the first storey has now been poured.
Building 3 now stands four storeys tall (including the ground floor), with the masonry work on all four storeys now being complete and preparations being made for the pouring of the next floor.
Building 6 has now overtaken building 5, with the masonry work now having been completed on the second storey of building 6.
The columns of the drive-through section of building 7 have been completed and work is commencing on first storey.
The underground parking garage under building 3 is complete, as is the masonry work on the ground floor and first storey of building 3.
The foundations of building 2 have been poured and preparations are being made for the pouring of the columns and ring beam.
The foundations and columns of the drive-through sections of buildings 5 and 6 have been completed and work is commencing on the floor of the first storey on both of these buildings.
Immediately following receipt of the definitive construction permit, site preparation work was commenced. After clearing the site, work cutting out the cliff and levelling out the site was commenced.
Once the site was levelled out, work on the foundations of the first 5 buildings (buildings 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7) was commenced.
The definitive construction permit was granted for the construction of the apartment buildings at The View.
The construction permits were granted after a lengthy and rigorous planning process, in which the local government took a very cautious and meticulous approach to the assessment of the application, and a wide range of considerations regarding the project, including its environmental, social and economic impact.
The Curaçao government officially approved the amended and definitive master plan for The View Resort & Marina, clearing the way for the construction permits to be granted.
